Charles A. Kennedy Jr. is an award winning filmmaker and published photographer based in Metro Detroit.
Charles didn’t realize his gift for imagemaking until his sophomore year at Lawrence Technological University where he studied Media Communication. He started his college career with a focus in audio engineering, but slowly shifted his focus to film production and camera.
Lawrence Tech didn’t offer traditional film and photography classes, so Charles taught himself through shooting, and consuming movies and information from his favorite shooters.
Charles is now known for his attention to detail with lighting, composition and his care with photographing Black skin. Charles shoots commercial, documentary and narrative projects internationally.
Always searching for the next level, Charles was recently accepted into the American Society of Cinematographers Vision Mentorship Program for ‘23-’24 a major achievement in his career to date.
